The size, capabilities and range of tooling options available with the Kongsberg C64 digital cutting table have helped CIM Signs and Graphics (CIM) boost productivity and efficiency, as well as increase its product offering. Mark Baker, Director of CIM, said that with customers ranging from retailers looking for in-store PoS displays through to events companies needing bespoke signage, it was vital to have a machine that could handle any material, and any size job.
“When we were upgrading our previous cutting table, we found only the 3.2m wide Kongsberg really had both the size we wanted and selection of specialist capabilities we needed,” said Mark. “The C64 is now definitely at the heart of our cutting production. With its greater size and the tooling options, it means we can now work with an increased range of materials, and we can handle those jobs using larger sheet sizes that we would have previously outsourced.

Mark said the Kongsberg C64 delivers the same precise quality cut across a variety of jobs, regardless of the material, while the simplicity of use and machine speed means that jobs are completed faster. “It’s definitely boosted efficiency,” he said. “The auto-detection, fast and simple tool changing - and of course its running speed - mean that everything is much quicker. It’s also very clean, so clean-up required after each job is minimal.”
“The C64 is easy to use, reliable, and the back-up service is really responsive, which is exactly what you need,” said Mark. “We use it on such a variety of jobs, and the quality of the cut is just excellent. The throughput is smoother and we’re 100% able to produce more, better and faster.”

“We actually have another, non-Kongsberg table, that is 1.6m wide, but the operators tend not to want to work on that one,” added Mark. “Technology moves on, and the Kongsberg C64 is so much more user friendly!”
